Srebrna smreka je srednje visoki zimzeleni iglavec, ki zraste 10 m ali več, v vrtovih običajno doseže do 15 m, v naravi pa tudi več. V širino doseže 5 do 7 m. Krošnja je stožčaste ali piramidne oblike, iglice pa srebrnkaste barve s pridihom modre. Ta smreka najbolje uspeva v bogatih in kislih ter vlažnih tleh, ki morajo biti dobro drenirana.
