Planinski bor Mugo je zelo prilagodljiva in odporna rastlina, dobro prenaša pozebo. Letno zraste 10 centimetrov visoko in široko. Krona se sčasoma oblikuje v kroglasto krošnjo. Dobro prenaša različne vrste tal in je odporen na pozebo. V višino in širino doseže od 0,5 do 1m. Zelo primerna rastlina za sajenje v skalnjake, suhozide, gredice ali večje posode.
