Tisa David je zimzeleni iglavec z pokončnimi vejami, ki so gosto poraščene z bogato rumenimi iglicami. Rast je počasna. V višino doseže od 1 do 1,5 m, v širino od 0,5 do 1 m. Zelo uporabna rastlina za ozko rastoče žive meje, skalnjake in suhozide, lonce ali posode ali manjši vrt. Najbolj ji ugajajo dobro odcedna, plodna tla na soncu.
Tisa “Hicksii” je najbolj primerna za žive meje. Je robustna, odporna na pozebo in onesnaženje. Običajno zraste od 3 do 4 m visoko, v širino približno 1 m; na leto zraste 5 centimetrov v višino in 10 centimetrov v širino.
Tisa je velik, počasi rastoč iglavec, višine 10-15 m in širine 7-10m. Ima gosto, široko ovalno krošnjo z gostimi, zelo temnozelenimi iglicami. Vsi deli rastline, razen mesnatega, rdečega ovoja okrog semena, so strupeni. Je zelo priljubljena kot živa meja, saj odlično prenaša obrezovanje in striženje. Je dolgo živeča, trpežna in prilagodljiva vrsta.
Plazeča tisa je majhen, široko rastoč, plazeči se iglavec z dolgimi poganjki, zato je zelo primerna rastlina za nizke žive meje in kot pokrovna rastlina. V višino doseže od 0,5 do 1 m, v širino precej več, od 2 do 3 m.
Tisa Hillii je vrsta tise brez jagod, pokončne, stožčaste rasti. Je kompaktnejše rasti od drugih vrst tis, primerna tako za samostojno rast kot za živo mejo. V višino doseže 2 – 3 m, v širino 1 – 2 m
Je cipresa svetleče zelene barve, zelo priljubljena za žive meje. Ima kompaktno, piramidno obliko. Jeseni in pozimi se obarva rahlo bronasto rjavo. Običajno zraste 4-6 m visoko, v širino od 0,9 do 1,2 m.
Ameriški klek je rastlina iz družine cipresovk in ena najbolj pogostih cipres za zasaditev žive meje. Če raste posamezno, lahko v višino doseže tudi 10 m in več, v primeru žive meje pa jo s striženjem držimo na dosti nižji višini. Iglice so gladke, zelene, rahlo svetleče in aromatične. Je zelo odporna na zmrzal, veter in sol.
Zimzeleni iglavec stožčaste oblike, ki raste zelo hitro (letno cca. 30 cm visoko in 10 cm široko). Svojo obliko zadrži tudi, ko zraste – doseže lahko tudi 10 m v višino in 6 m v širino. Ima usnjate, bogato zelene iglice. Dobro prenaša pozebo, veter in urbano onesnaženje. Primeren za žive meje ali kot soliter.
